The Program on Security and Development (SAND) is an organization that focuses on documenting, investigating and consulting on practical measures that can be undertaken to improve security and the conditions for basic development in all regions of the world.
Below you will find a link to our definition of Security and Development.

In our Research section, we have a comprehensive bibliography which focuses on the most contemporary work regarding the interlinked dimensions of security and development. These include: landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERW); small arms and light weapons (SALW); disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR); security sector reform (SSR); child soldiers; gender mainstreaming; and post-conflict reconstruction. Our ongoing research is conducted by students at the Monterey Institute of International Studies.

Alumni and student projects are featured in the Research section. Finally, this site also contains a list of organizations reflects the broad spectrum of civil society dedicated to SAND worldwide.
